Baz Luhrmann has long been recognized for his artistic talent and innovation throughout his impressive three-decade career. The Australian filmmaker may not have an extensive filmography, but each project he's directed has left a significant mark, akin to the timelessness of works like The Great Gatsby featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and the biopic on Elvis Presley. His relationship with Warner Bros. has yielded fruitful outcomes, leading many to speculate that a third collaboration would eventually emerge.

Now, the director's next cinematic endeavor has been confirmed, highlighting his continued partnership with the studio. Luhrmann's forthcoming film will center on the legendary figure of Joan of Arc. Recently marking his 62nd birthday, it seems the occasion has ushered in exciting new prospects, with the confirmation of this project centered on a story dear to the hearts of many in France—an indomitable spirit who played an essential role during the Hundred Years’ War, particularly at the Siege of Orléans.

The casting for this pivotal role will be instrumental in meeting audience expectations. Recently, a suggestion was put forward to cast Emma Corrin as the iconic character, which appears to be gaining traction among fans. Emma Corrin could be ideally suited for Luhrmann's upcoming film. Touted as Jehanne or Jehanne d’Arc, the undertaking remains in its fledgling phase, equipped with the director actively engaged in the creative process and developing the script.

The search is on for a young female lead suitable for an engaging coming-of-age storyline set amid the backdrop of the Hundred Years’ War. While official casting details are yet to emerge, numerous supporters believe that Corrin stands a strong chance of landing this role. She’s gained recognition for her recent performance in Deadpool & Wolverine, and her portrayal of Lady Diana in The Crown has further solidified her place in the industry. Although some may argue that her British origins could pose a limitation, Luhrmann is known for prioritizing talent over geographical considerations. Ultimately, he intends to choose the individual he deems most fitting for this portrayal.
