Anticipation for the next installment in the Mass Effect franchise is building, especially regarding its visual presentation. The fresh unveiling of Dragon Age: The Veilguard generated mixed reactions concerning its art style, which leaned towards a more simplified and colorful aesthetic. While this design choice earned praise for aligning seamlessly with the fantasy genre, it invites speculation about the direction Mass Effect 4 will take.

In a recent communication through X, the project director for Mass Effect 4 clarified the series' commitment to photorealism, asserting that this approach will continue as long as he oversees the project. This unequivocal statement gives fans confidence in the visual direction for the new game. 

What sets Mass Effect 4 apart from its predecessor in the Dragon Age series is the technology being utilized. While Dragon Age: The Veilguard is crafted using DICE's Frostbite Engine, the upcoming installment of Mass Effect is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. This choice promises an impressive visual experience that will showcase Bioware's capabilities in producing stunning, immersive environments.
