With an aim to make its AI-fueled, content-creation technologies a substantial income source in the future, Microsoft has launched a paid consumer plan for its invention 'Copilot'. The corporation has also made certain modifications to the eligibility criteria for its business-level Copilot services. These decisions have been made to widen the consumer base of paying Copilot users and to enhance the appeal of its Microsoft 365 applications through AI features.
Available at a monthly charge of $20 per user, Copilot Pro offers the subscribers access to general AI features of Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote on PC, Mac, and iPad if they are subscribers of Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan. This premium addition significantly increases the total cost of the lowest-tier Microsoft 365 subscription to $27 per month.
Additionally, Microsoft also provides 100 enhancements every day for Designer, Microsoft’s AI-empowered image creation tool. This is included for the Copilot Pro subscribers to expedite the image generation process with enhanced quality and landscape formatting choices. These subscribers will also have priority access to the newest AI models that support Copilot, such as GPT-4 Turbo from OpenAI, for improved performance during high-demand periods.
As part of its future plans, the Copilot Pro subscribers will be given options to switch between models, depending on their preferences. For higher levels of customization, they will be allowed to use the forthcoming Copilot GPT Builder to design Copilot with specific prompts tailored for specific topics.
Microsoft is maintaining a balance by not overlooking its free users while focusing on its paid Copilot plans. Copilot introduces GPTs tailored to special interest areas, which have been made available on the web client for Copilot. Also, a free mobile app for Copilot permitting image creation and chatting with Copilot has been launched for Android and iOS.
