It's rare for a game to register some of its most impressive player count figures several years post-launch; however, this is precisely what has transpired with Monster Hunter: World.

As the calendar turned to the New Year, Capcom's adventure game experienced its most significant surge of PC players in over three years, as SteamDB statistics revealed.

The title attracted a hefty 136,187 players on January 1. Although this number doesn't reach the historic peak it achieved on Steam at its release approximately six years prior, it nonetheless represents a noteworthy accomplishment for a game that debuted in 2018.

The surge in player activity can likely be attributed to the game's recent discount, which was made available at one of the lowest price points. This price drop and the buzz surrounding the announcement of Monster Hunter: Rise probably prompted many gamers to try out the game.
