The film industry often encounters challenges, especially when it comes to originality and artistic integrity. In a recent development, the Robbie Williams biopic has been embroiled in a controversy that has affected its chances for an esteemed accolade.

The Academy has removed the original song Forbidden Road from the Oscars shortlist for Best Original Song, as it was allegedly found to have similarities with Jim Croce's hit I Got a Name. This action aligns with the Academy’s stringent guidelines regarding originality.

This decision, led by a member of the Academy music branch, has resulted in the shortlist being reduced from 15 to 14 nominees. Unfortunately for the creators, this ruling is final and non-negotiable, meaning that voters will consider this abbreviated list for the upcoming nomination vote on January 8.

Better Man uniquely features Williams portrayed as a CGI chimpanzee and is set to have a limited release on Christmas Day. Although the soundtrack, which includes the now-disqualified track, is scheduled for release on December 27, the film's prospects for the Oscars have certainly diminished.

What do you think? Could it be feasible for Better Man to navigate through this setback, or is it destined to be forgotten?
